Are you a member of a Polish student society at higher education institution in the UK?
Or maybe you're thinking about setting up your own Polish student society?
Either way, it's a great idea to join PoPSS. Here you'll be able to promote your organisation, communicate and collaborate with people from other societies like yours, access useful resources and documents, and offer your members a chance to get involved in joint projects under the umbrella of PoPSS. And that's just the start of it... so, where do you get started?

Budowana platforma jest częścią dużo większego systemu i sieci dla organizacji polonijnych na całym świecie. Projekt ten nazywa się Polish Cooperation Network i wszelkie informacje są dostępne tutaj. UWAGA! Rejestracja organizacji studenckich odbywa się poprzez stronę tego projektu.
Obecnie został zakończony pierwszy etap budowy platformy dla PoPSS. Najważniejsze rzeczy jakie zostały zrobione dotyczą panelu administracyjnego i możliwości zarządzania organizacjami członkowskimi. Obecnie niektóre treści np. kalendarz wydarzeń są wyświetlane z innych organizacji w sieci PCN. W późniejszym czasie będą się tutaj pojawiąć tylko wydarzenia z organizacji studenckich.
Kolejne etapy:
- Wprowadzenie grup, w ramach których będzie można założyć: forum, galerie zdjęć, pliki, filmy, artykuły, wydarzenia, projekty zbiorowe. Tworzone grupy mogą być lokalne, krajowe i międzynarodowe co oznacza, że będą one połączone z innymi platformami opartymi na silniku PoPSS.
- wprowadzenie nowego systemu zarządzania treściami na stronach głównych organizacji członkowskich przez ich właścicieli,
- wprowadzenie zarządzania innymi językami dla publikowanych treści na stronie
- wprowadzenie różnych poprawek do zarządzania menu
- ujednolicenie wymiarów wgrywanych zdjęć przez różne strony członkowskie w celu ich poprawnego wyświetlania na różnych stronach,
- opracowanie metod komunikacji między różnymi platformami, na silniku PoPSS.
Każdy etap zajmie inną ilość czasu, niestety na obecnym etapie nie jestem wstanie tego określić dokładnie.

The Platform of Polish Student Societies in the UK, or PoPSS for short, is a project started in order to improve the communication between Polish student societies UK tertiary education institutions, to allow them to share their experiences and to facilitate the development of joint UK-wide projects between them. It can be said that the raison d’etre of PoPSS are Polish students in the UK and its rationale is communication.
On the level of infrastructure, PoPSS is built around a website running on a software provided by Polish Cooperation Network (PCN). The system will provide organic groups (end of 2012), which are an effective tool for project management and information exchange, as well as document storage, and a space devoted to presenting information about different PolSocs in the UK. You can read more about PCN and future tools on this website (Polish version only).
In the short run, we hope that the internet platform will prove to be a launchpad for increased communication between Polish societies all around the UK and in the future also internationally, enable them to start more joint projects which would otherwise be difficult to coordinate.
In the long run, PoPSS aims to enable the creation of a federation of Polish student societies that would actively and effectively represent interests of Polish students in the UK, and speak with a firm and united voice on their behalf.
For now though, PoPPS is only a blueprint for a much more robust system and stronger organisation. It needs many improvements, but most importantly it needs Us – Polish Students. Only together can we do something amazing and only together we can make a difference.
